How do we fit a metal rim on wooden wheel of a cart

we know metals expand on heating and contract on cooling. so to fit a metal rim tightly on a wooden wheel, we need to heat the rim first . on heating the rim expands and we can easily put the wooden wheel inside it. on cooling, the rim contracts and thus ensures a tight fit on the wooden wheel.
