In matchstick there is a layer of red phosphorus and has a lot of chemical energy stored in it. When Phosphorus is rubbed with a great speed its chemical energy changes into heat and light energy as it has combustible substances also and if you will left that matchstick then that would part will eventually burn giving you light energy.
