Dimension of density is [ M L⁻³ T⁰ ]

To calculate density we use :

Density = Mass / Volume

Example :

The block of wood has a mass of 270 kg and a volume of 540 m³. Calculate the density.

Sol.

Mass of wood m = 270 kg

Volume of wood V = 540 m³

= > d = m / V

Putting values here we get :

= > d = 270 / 540 kg m⁻³

= > d = 1 / 2 kg m⁻³

= > d = 0.5 kg m⁻³

Therefore , density of wood is 0.5 kg m⁻³
