take element oxygen atomic no of oxygen is 8
electronic configuration is 2,6
now we have to find valency number of atoms in last shell is 6
capacity to fill last shell is 8
so valency is 8-6=2
now take another element carbon it's electronic configuration is 2,4 so it's valency is 4
electronic configuration is 2,6
now we have to find valency number of atoms in last shell is 6
capacity to fill last shell is 8
so valency is 8-6=2
now take another element carbon it's electronic configuration is 2,4 so it's valency is 4
