how do you destarch a plant?

heya!!
we can destarch a plant by keeping it in a dark room for about 3 days.
hence we can decolourise it by boiling it in alcohol(water bath)

By keeping the plant in a dark place for a long period of time.Due to the lack of photosynthesis in this place stored starch is used up and the plant is destarched.
