How do you determine the number of double bonds?
Answers
if u count and check u can find it
Double bond in a formula is the site for unsaturation and to be formed it removes one H atom from the site.
When looking into a complicated structure it might not be possible to clearly tell how many double bonds or triple bonds are present in the structure but by following 3 simple steps we can easily tell whether there are single or double or triple Bond present.
First of all take a look at the compound and if the compound is carbon there must be four elements in association with it.
Secondly, by looking at the length of the bonds it can be told whether the bonds are double or triple or single because single bonds are usually long as compared to double and triple bonds.
Thirdly, by testing the reactivity of the compound it can be told whether the compound has a double or single bond present in it.
