In solar cell, electrical semiconductor are used like silicon and germanium.

The doping is the process of adding impurities to semiconductor.

Boron and phosphorus are the impurities added is semiconductor like silicon and germanium.

Hope it helps...

Doping refers to the introduction of impurities in a semiconductor intentionally.

It is done to alter the properties of the semiconductor.

the intrinsic semiconductors cannot be used directly due to several drawbacks, therefore the method of doping is performed with the semiconductors. We get extrinsic semiconductors after doping.

Doping is usually of two types that is N type and P type and it is done by adding the nearby elements only so that the crystal structure of the doped intrinsic semiconductor is not affected.

P type - P type semiconductors are formed when Germanium or silicon are doped with trivalent impurities.

N type - n type semiconductors are formed when Germanium or Silicon are doped with pentavalent impurities.
