Hey Ma8,

****

firstly find the element of valence electron

if 1 or 2 then the group is same

if 3 or 4 or 5 or 6 or 7 or 8 then add 10 after this you get group number

example = Na = 2 , 8 ,1

1 is the valence electron of Na

means 1 is the group number of Na

F = 2 , 7

7 is valence electron

Group = 7 + 10 = 17

To determine the group of a element:

⚫The group is similar to the no of valence electrons of given element.

However if valence electrons present in outer most shell of atom is more than 2 i. e.,3-8 you have to add 10 in it.

⚫The period of element relates the number of shells of an atom of the given element.
