How do you differentiate between solids , liquid , and gases on the basis of their melting and boiling point

Explanation:

In solids, the molecules are held together closely. So, there are strong inter molecular force of attraction between the molecules.

Thus, in order to break the strong force of attraction, we need to provide high temperature. As a result, melting and boiling point increases.

Whereas in liquids, the molecules are held less tightly between as compared to solids. Hence, we need to provide slightly less heat to the molecules as a result, the melting and boiling point of liquids is slightly less than the solids.

In gases, the molecules are far away from each other. So, there is no force of attraction between them. Hence, gases have very low melting and boiling point.
