Information gathering refers to collection of data and facts. It means knowledge of specific events or situations that has been gathered or received by communication. Insight formation, on the other hand, refers to the perception one has of things through his deep understanding of a subject.

Answer:

According to Albert Einstein, education is not limited to mere information gathering. One can look up in a book for the information about anything hence, memorizing it is of no use. What is important is understanding concepts and forming ideas or insights. So, insight formation must be the aim of education. The education that students receive from schools shouldn’t overburden students with the heaps of data collection. As described in the story, the school education system is more concerned about information gathering rather than making students proficient in developing insights. The teachers do not encourage the observatory and inferential skills of students that are

essential to sharpen their intelligence. Insight formation may differ from person to person, in terms of one’s ideas and concepts.
