hlo mate,
What does a child do when you keep a large jar filled with candies in front of him. He comes and takes a handful and runs away. After some time he realizes that there are more candies in the jar, grabs a handful and off he goes. This goes on until he is tired or the candies are over.
Similarly, India at the time was so rich it was like a jar full of candies for Mahmoud Ghazni, a jar that would refill itself as soon as you took a handful out of it.
Thats the reason he kept plundering India. At the end of the day it’s all about money.

The main causes of his invasions of India were
(i) He was anxious to conquer Central Asia. For this he wanted a lot of money to organize a well-equipped army. India was quite rich; he could easily get money by his invasions.)
(ii) The later invasions of Mahmud were specifically directed to temple towns. Indian temples were depositories of great wealth and the economic and ideological Centres of Gravity for the Hindus. He wanted to destroy the will power of the Hindus by destroying their temples.)
(iii) He wanted to claim the religious supremacy by invading the temple towns of India.
(iv) The weak political condition of India encouraged him to attack India 17 times in 25 years.
