Highly reactive metals are reduced from their oxides for getting pure metals.

Highly reactive metals i.e Potassium, Sodium, Calcium, Magnesium and Aluminum, are extracted by electrolysis of the compound containing the metal.

Eg: Electrolysis of fused Alumina(Al2O3) is for extracting Aluminum metal. Electrolysis of fused sodium chloride (NaCl) is for extracting Sodium metal.
