let \: z \: be \: x \: and \: a \: be \: y. \\ 4x {}^{2}  + 12x  - yx - 3y \\  = 4x(x + 3) - y(x + 3) \\  = (x + 3)(4x - y) \\ substituiting \: the \: \: original \: values \\ now \\ (x + 3)(4x - y) \\  = (z + 3)(4z - a)
