I don't agree with the model answer given by the question writer, which is about 1:1. The justification was any birth will always have a 50% chance of being male or female. Girls are conditioned to expect less of themselves than boys, and doing better than their male peers at school does not translate into future rewards – women still earn up to 22 per cent less than men in most countries in the world .
