The class polyplacophoran contains the Chilton. Chilton have a reduced head, a flattened foot, and a shell that divides into 8 articulating dorsal valves. A musculature mantle that extends beyond the margins of the shell and foot covers the broad foot. A linear series of gills is in the mantle cavity on each side of the foot through which oxygen can absorb. this is what the chiton external appearance is.
