how do you predict that Fe+HCl gives Iron chloride + hydrogen........and not Iron hydride + chlorine ???​

hydrogen gas burns with a pop sound. Bringing a burning candle near the opening from where it comes out we can hear this sound.

The iron displaces hydrogen from hydrochloric acid to form iron (II) chloride & hydrogen gas.

Hence it is obvious that FeCl3 leaving H2 and not iron hydride leaving chlorine gas!!
