How do you solve 1/2(x-y) = 2 and 1/2(x+y)+1 = 0?

x-y=4_____________(i)

x+y=-2____________(ii)

from (i)&(ii)....

2x=2

x=1____________(iii)

put (iii) in (i), we get,

1-y=4

y=1-4=-3

therefore,

x=1 and y=-3
