How do you solve the system of equations 2x+3y=18 and 3x−5=y?

Given:

2x+3y =18

and 3x-5 =y

2x+3 (3x-5) =18

or 2x+9x-15 =18

or 11x =18+15

or x = 33/11

: x = 3.

And,

3x-5 = y

or 3×3 -5 = y

or 9-5 = y

or y = 4.

Hence, x= 3 and y= 4.
