How do you solve y = -5x + 30 and y = 6 - 2x?

Answer:

y =  - 5x + 30 ....(i)\\ y =  \:  \:  \:  \: 6 - 2x....(ii)

On comparing (i) and (ii), we have ;

 - 5x + 30 = 6 - 2x \\  \\  - 5x + 2x =   6 - 30 \\  \\  - 3x =  - 24 \\  \\ x =  \frac{24}{3}  \\  \\ \boxed{ \fcolorbox{red}{yellow}{ \bf x =  8}}

Substituting the value of x in (I)

y =  - 5x + 30 \\  \\ y =  - 5 \times 8 + 30 \\  \\ y =  - 40 + 30 \\  \\ \boxed{ \fcolorbox{red}{yellow}{ \bf y =  - 10}}
