When Silky Bob would have realised that he had been talking to the Patrolman Wells without realising who he was, must have been assailed by mixed filling.

Either he must be cursing himself for not being identify his staunchest chap or he must be angry with his friend for not reveling his identity. He might have also felt a sense of regret that they didn't converse like pals. They met and parted like strangers which must have been a real let down for Bob.
