Kisa Gotami that she was being 'selfish in her grief '?

Our journey is to discover our "self". If we suceed in discovering our "self" then we are acquainted with God whether you name it Buddha or something else. To discover self one has to start from selfishness i.e the state of mind in which one is chiefly concerned with one's own profit or pleasure. Our life is nothing but a transformation from selfishness to selflessness. So selfishness is a necessity for our life.

Kisa Gotami is the perfect epitome of this journey i.e from selfishness to selflessness. Selfishness in her grief helps her to realise one universal truth that death is nothing but a truth and everyone in every family has to face the truth every moment. So to me yes Kisa Gotami was selfish in her grief but ultimately she becomes selfless after realization of the universal truth. Kisa Gotami is not just a person or a bereaved mother but a symbol of our journey.
