Take a glass slab pass a beam of light through it observe the light at the boundary of the change of medium from rare to denser it will bend towards normal forming an angle known as angle of incidence & after all passing through denser medium that is glass slab it will move away from normal forming an angle known as angle of refraction measure both the angles WD will observe that the mangle of refraction is more than angle of incidence as it bends away from normal so it is obvious the angle will be complementary whileas the first one is supplementary as it bends towards normal
