a nuclear reactor produces and controls the release of energy from splitting the atoms of Uranium .Uranium fuelled nuclear power is a clean and efficient way of boiling water to make steam which lives turbine generators.

A nuclear reactor basically works on the principle of nuclear fission. The heavy nucleus of Uranium element splits into two or more lighter nuclei releasing large amount of kinetic energy.

The nuclear reactors convert this kinetic energy released from controlled nuclear fission into thermal energy which is then further converted to mechanical or electrical energy according to the requirements. Usually, huge turbines are made to rotate to harness large amount of electrical energy.
