Soap helps in cleaning Oli it emelsifies the oil the carbon chain dissolves in water and potassium or sodium dissolves in oil is not as effective as detergent .

Detergent is made up of long chains of carbon with ammonium and sulphonate

Soap can dissolve the insoluble substance ln hardwater
