the villi present in the small intestine plays a vital role in the process of digestion.
it is present in the inner walls of the small intestine, and after the food is simplified enough, the villi present in the inner walls of the small intestine, absorb the nutrients and healthy materials leaving behind the undigested and waste material which is later eliminated.
thus villi is the answer.

Firstly our intestine break down the food in smaller particles and then release the enzyme named pepsin which totally makes the food as a paste. This is the whole phenomena of absorption in our intestine.
