in the small intestine there is presence of small finger like projections called "villi".
These villi help to increase in the surface area for absorption and they also help in absorption.
Certain enzymes are released by the digestive glands which break the complex food into simpler forms and after that the simplified nutrients are absorbed by these villi and microvilli*.
these villi and microvilli has blood vessels at the end so that nutrients absorbed are directly sent to the cells for the diffusion.
