How does acid rain destroy architecture and freshwater organisms?

acid rain contains a mild carbonic acid, which on falling on the surface of architecture and slowly corrodes it and when it mixes with freshwater sources such as- rivers,lakes,ponds etc,it goes inside the body of freshwater organism and damages it's internal body parts and kills them.
