hello,

endocytosis refers to the process of engulfing the food by an organism.
while exocytosis refers to the process of giving out the excretory Material by an organism.

Amoeba is in unicellular organism. this means that it does not have special organs for digestion, assimilation, absorption, etc.
Amoeba obtain its nutrition by the process of endocytosis and exocytosis and phagocytosis.

phagocytosis refers to the injection of bacteria into the food vacuole created by pseudopodia of amoeba for obtaining the nutrition.

whenever Amoeba sees a food it produces its to the body towards the food. The pseudopodia cover the food from all its four sides.
The pseudopodia then fuses together to make a vacuole. The vacuole contains the food of Amoeba.

Amoeba then injects the digestive enzymes into the vacuole by the process of phagocytosis. These digestive enzymes help in digestion of the food.
when the food is completely digested by the action of enzymes secreted by Amoeba into the food vacuole the food is absorbed into the body of amoeba by the process of osmosis.

then the food is utilised for the production of energy and other biochemical activities in the body of amoeba.

after the digestion the excreta remains in the food vacuole and the food vacuole starts moving towards the cell membrane.
When it reaches to the edge, the cell membrane burst and the excretory Material is thrown of the body. The pseudopodia then fuses again to form the complete cell membrane.

This is how the process of obtaining of food in Amoeba takes place.

Hope this will be helping you ✌️

tejasgupta: Please Explain Phagocytes Again. I Didn't understand it
skh2: phagocytosis is the process of giving out of enzymes into the vacuole also called as phagosome
skh2: it takes place in phagocytes, when food is engulfed by endocytosis, the food is acted upon by enzymes. then absorption and assimilation takes place. this is known as phagocytosis.
skh2: the vacuole in which phagocytosis takes place is known as phagosome
tejasgupta: Thnx a lot
skh2: welcomed

HELLO!

Explanation:

Amoeba takes in food using temporary finger-like extensions of the cell surface which fuse over the food particle forming a food-vacuole as shown in figure. Inside the food vacuole, complex substances are broken down into simpler ones which then diffuse into the cytoplasm.

Amoebas take in nutrients via phagocytosis and pinocytosis. Phagocytosis is what occurs when an amoeba surrounds a solid food particle with its pseudopods (for locomotion and the capturing of prey) to form a vacuole (known as a phagosome) in which digestion of the food particle then occurs.
