In terms of valance electron we can say that valance electrons tells us that how much a atom need electrons to complete his octet , and we all know that the atom of any element having a completed outer most octet is most stable then any other atom.

When the number of valence electrons becomes 8 in shell no.2,3 etc or 2 in 1 shell, then the atom become stable
