Fuse is made of copper and tin with low melting alloy.

Within a conductor, the heat generated is proportional to the square of the current passing through it. When an electric circuit is overloaded or short circuited it flows with very high current. If the current flowing through a fuse-containing circuit is higher than the approved fuse limit the fuse wire heats up and melts down. As a result, power sources are cut off and further circuit damage is avoided.
