The mode of nutrition in fungi is saprophytic mode of nutrition. They don't take in solid form of food, instead the root like structures hold on to the dead and decaying matter or moist bread and release enzymes which break down food outside the body and the solid food is converted to simpler liquid form and is absorbed by root like structures ( rhizoids in case of bread mould) into the body.
