Metellus Cimber came forward before Caesar to request him to pardon his brother Publius Cimber. Publius has been banished from Rome. Caesar denied the plea and refused to pardon him in any case. He said that the reason which led to his banishment as legal and hence, he would never take back the decision. Brutus and Cassius also gave their favor to Metellus. Caesar adds that his decision is as “constant as the Northern star.” Later these people joined together and conspired against Caesar and in the end, Caesar gets assassinated by them.
