How does carbon attain its noble gas configuration

ridhi87: It cant gain or lose 4 electron to complete its octet
ridhi87: as because it could gain 4 electrons but it would be difficult for the nucleus with six protons to hold on 10 electrons that is extra 4 electrons
ridhi87: niether it could lose 4 .because for that it would require a large amount of energy to remove 4 electrons leaving behind a carbin cation with 6 protons in its nucleus holding on to forst teo electrons ..

It attains it's noble gas configuration by sharing it's electron to other elements....in order to complete it's octet ..i.e by forming covalent bonds between the two elements .It has the property of tetravalency also due to which it forms large no of compounds
