Cassius and Mark Anthony are both characters from renowned playwright Shakespeare’s play based on the life, death and effect of ancient Roman emperor Julius Caesar. In the play, Cassius and his fellow conspirators had tried to bring Mark Anthony on to their side after murdering his friend, Caesar.
The main argument put forth by Cassius was that Caesar was a tyrant. He stressed on the fact that he used Rome’s wealth for his own personal gain and not for the populace. Moreover, they also hinted that should Anthony betray them, he would face the same fate as Caesar.
In the Shakespearean play Julius Caesar, Cassius wanted to win Antony to the conspirators’ side after killing Caesar.
To do that, he tried to convince Antony that Caesar misused the wealth of Rome for his own benefit, and that he was an autocrat.
He also tried to threaten Antony that if he does not come to their side, they will do the same to him as they did to Caesar.
