When you peep deep into quantum mechanics .. no one has a true answer how bonding takes place. In chemistry we take help of stability factors and electronic configuration to fill up the orbitals and have a more relative stability.. in the true sense .. it's kinda mystery. . that's why we are still peeping into the atomic structure and their relationship.. stability factor and the environment do play a crucial role in the bond formation
