• When Chubukov comes inside, he found out that Lomov and Natalya were fighting and quarrelling. When he got to know that both of them were fighting regarding the ownership of Oxen Meadows then even he became very angry and fought with them.
• He rather than easing out of the situation, made it worse by fighting with them. He claimed that he himself was the owner of Oxen Meadows.
• He insulted and said things to Lomov and not only him but also said about his ancestors.
• Both of them being landlords and neighbours, Lomov wanted to marry Natalya who is Chubukov's daughter and is also interested in getting ownership of Oxen Meadows.
• When Chubukov got to know that he has come for a marriage proposal he was delighted and overjoyed. He was so happy to know about it. But then later indulged in the fight.
