How does diaphragm help in breathing ?

when you breath in,or inhale, your diaphragm contracts (tightens) and moves downward . This increases the space in your chest cavity, into which your lungs expand. The intercostal muscles between your ribs also help enlarge the chest cavity. They contract to pull your ribs cage both upward and outward when you inhale.

Diaphragm is a ligaments present under two lungs. When we breathe in goes upward and thus help in expansion of our lungs and when we breathe out it goes downward and thus help in contraction of lung and by and by help in breathing
