How does HCl help with the digestion of food

the HCL makes the stomach medium acidic in nature and it breaks down proteins in our stomach and kills bacteria that enters our stomach. it converts inactive enzymes into active form I.e pepsinogen into pepsin and pepsin HELPS in digestion of proteins in our stomach.

HCl also has another important role to play in the stomach during thedigestion process. The presence of HCl in the body of the stomach causes the activation of enzymes. One of the proteins in HCl is used to convert the enzyme pepsinogen into pepsin. Pepsin breaks up the peptides from the protein.
