Hibernation is the animal sleep to escape cold weather during winter. During this period animal’s body temperature drops, heartbeat, breathing and metabolic rate slows down to conserve energy. Hibernation helps dormouse to withstand extreme cold winters of temperate regions where it is found. Dormouse can hibernate for 6 months. During summer they store food in their body in the form of fat. This fat nourishes them during hibernation period.
