An increase in the surface area increases the rate of evaporation.

When surface area is increased then there will be more molecules of any liquid present on surface so when there are more molecules present on any surface the rate of evaporation will increase as at same time more molecules of that liquid will be escaping from surface. As for example you can see the 1st bowl with low surface area will have lower rate of evaporation while the other(2nd) with larger surface area will have high rate of evaporation.
