India occupy an important strategic position in South Asia because the Indian Ocean allows routes to other countries in UK. Persian Gulf countries which are rich in oil are in close distance.

An important strategic position in South Asia hepls to establish India strategic position in Asia, Europe, Africa. Now India has a landmass connection with Asia and Europe.

This is very helpful for India that oil rich countries are related with India. It is a long coastline with Indian Ocean, connected with Indian Oceans.
