Lubricants effect friction as when applied fill up the irregularities due to which interlocking of irregularities becomes less and thereby friction is reduced. friction is reduced. As we all know friction causes due to the interlocking of of irregularities present on the surfaces of the object that are in contact.

Answer:

Each and every object's surfaces is not properly smooth and plane. They are irregular in shape. .When rubbing occurs between any two surfaces the friction is very high. So that we use lubricants to reduce friction because lubricants goes into the gapping on the surfaces and fulfill it

and then the surfaces is almost plane. Therefore friction is automatically reduce.

Eg: we use motor oil to decrease the friction. when we pour it on the moving parts of machine the the machine will run smoothly.
