The alimentary canal is the whole of our digestive system starting from the mouth till the very end (anus).....the food we eat starts getting digested from the mouth only where our slivery gland produce saliva which helps to keep the food moist for chewing by teeth...the these chewed or smaller particles of food travel through esophageal canal or esophagus an enters our stomach by the process of peristalsis...where the concentration of HCl break down these food particles further into fats, protein etc.....then pepsinogen present in the stomach with HCl forms pepsin this helps in breaking down of protein into amino acids.....in between walls of stomach forms a layer of mucus to protect it from the conc. HCl ......then our accessory digestive organs come into action.....they are liver, gall bladder, and pancreas ...liver produces bile juice and stores in gallbladder...the gallbladder releases this juice....bile juice helps the food which is acidic due to HCl form alkali so that the pancreatic juices can work on them moreover bile juice helps in emulsification of fats (breaking big fat molecules into smaller molecules).....then the pancreas release pancreatic juices consisting of trypsin , amylase and lipase..... trypsin digests remaining proteins..... amylase digests remaining carbohydrates and lipase digests remaining fats....them the food enters small intestine where the absorption takes play by villi....they help in increasing the surface area of small intestine which aids in efficient absorption of nutrients.....and the rest you know the big intestine absorbs water.....and the excretion takes place!!!!
Hope this helps you!!!
