Metallic character go on decreasing from left to right in periodic table. This is because atomic size decreases.Therfore , the electrons are not easily relesed. Elements on the left of period table are all metals . Metals show tendency to lose electrons, they are said to be electropositive..As we go from left to right in a period electrons are added in the same shell. So distance between nucleus & outermost electrons decreases i.e atomic size decreases.
