Photorespiration occurs in C3 plants
it occurs when enough CO2 is not present for plant to do photosynthesis so it take O2 and do respiration in the presence of light
It affect calvin cycle to minimise the availability of CO2 so the C3 plants and less productive

Photorespiration reduces the efficiency of Calvin cycle at high temperatures and/or low [CO2] in the air (or in the water in case of acquatic plants)
