in plants photosynthesis takes place in chloroplasts. but in desert plants like cactus the photosynthesis takes place in the stem.

For photosynthesis 3 thing are need water ,ligth , CO2 in desert ligth is present as well as CO2 but less water ,plants root get deeper in search of water when they get it they absorb it due to transpiration pull when water reaches in the the start the process of photosynthesis
