phototropism in plants
when plants have sunlight , the stem grows upwards i.e. towards sunlight . This is positive phototropism. Whereas the roots grow towards earth i.e. opposite to the direction of sun. This is negative phototropism.

Hi
Phototropism refers to the orientation of a plant or other organism in response to light.
The cells on the plant that are farthest from the light have a chemical called auxin that reacts when phototropism occurs. This causes the plant to have elongated cells on the farthest side from the light.

Hope it helps you out..
