How does positive supercoiling of DNA occur?

Supercoiling occurs when the molecule relieves the helical stress by twisting around itself. Overtwisting leads to positive supercoiling, while undertwisting leads to negative supercoiling. Positive supercoiling is the right-handed, double helical form of DNA
