The President acts as the executive head because all executive powers are vested in the hands of the President. He can exercise these powers directly or through subordinate officers. All executive actions are taken in the name of the President as well.

The President is the highest executive authority to whom our Constitution vests all the executive powers of the Union. The President also enjoys a number of executive powers such as :

1) He/She can enforce the laws passed by the Parliament.
2) He/She has the power to appoint and remove all higher officials of the Union Government.
3) He/She can even appoint the Governors of the States, Chief Justice and Judges of the Supreme Court and High Courts.

THUS, WE CAN SAY THAT PRESIDENT IS THE ACTUAL EXECUTIVE HEAD TO WHOM THE HIGHEST EXECUTIVE POWERS ARE GIVEN.
