Here is ur answer-->> Pure silicon behave as an insulator under normal conditions but when temprature is increased, electrons will gain energy and hence bonds will break. Thus no. of free electrons increases and due to increase in no. of free electrons, conductivity increases. Therefore it behave as a semiconductor on heating.
